Jobs in Brief: General Description
This position shall manage engineering activities for the Delivery Areas to ensure that targets are being met and progress being delivered for the Authority managed Projects.
Provide strategic support related to the Authority.
Draft, review or recommend any engineering related documents as required.
Review and ensure that engineering principles are incorporated and applied.
Identify, develop and promote Programme / Portfolio Management policies.
Provide progress reports as and when required.
Attendance at relevant meetings.
Skills and Competencies
Experienced in the Programme / Portfolio Management.
Desirable to have experience in working with and within government agencies or clients side generally at a senior level.
Demonstrable track record in the delivery of large multidisciplinary projects.
In-depth knowledge of engineering procedures.
A rounded profile, with experience of leading multidisciplinary engineering/design teams
Effective in building good working relationships within complex structures,
both internally and with various project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the leadership and management of the Authority.
Providing vision, leadership and strategic direction for the Authority.
Delivering the strategy of the Authority through creation of the right interfaces and interactions.
Ensuring adequate and appropriate resources for the Authority.
Ensuring effective communication through the Authority and through good stakeholder management.
Facilitating the translation of strategy into planning and delivery across the Authority.
Maintaining high standards of health and safety.
Complying with all protocols, policies and procedures in relation to all staff related matters.
Promoting continuously and making an influence of a positive safety culture. Providing a coherent report performance against the plan to the management.
Providing leadership to balance value, quality, time and cost drives.
Guiding, inspiring, motivating and encouraging a high performing team environment.
Providing strategic direction, governance and leadership.
Establishing procedures across the Authority to enable continuous learning.
Engaging with HR on all aspects of recruitment and personnel management.
Qualification & Criteria:
Mandatory requirements
University degree from a recognised university in an appropriate field such as Engineering or Architecture or equivalent.
Minimum of 25 years postgraduate experience with experience in major infrastructure projects or programmes. Preference will be given to roads, aviation, structures or rail related experience, 10 years in similar position, and 5 years in Qatar and / or the Gulf region.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English. Desirable requirements
Evidence of suitable professional qualification CEng or equivalent is
preferable.
Masters degree in a relevant field.
