Qualification : BE Chemical / M.sc + Diploma in Industrial Safety

Location : Gujarat

KRA :

Policy definition & deployment


  • Develop, implement and review the companys Environment, Health & Safety policies, procedures & programmes to protect people in and around the sites, customers, company property & the environment.
  • Establish & implement protocols for pre-start up and safety review (PSSR), HAZOP, HIRA, and spot Hazard Analysis at work place.
  • Establish procedures to select, procure & test/inspect appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to ensure they are available and in useable condition.
  • Monitor and enforce use of personal protective equipment at work place, where required.
  • Design & conduct/organize EHS awareness campaigns (through display boards, posters, celebrating National Safety Day, National Environment Day), education sessions/seminars & training programmes (e.g. Tool Box Talk) for permanent as well as contractual staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Work closely with Dept Heads to develop a strong EHS culture within each unit, as guided by Works Head, and ensure compliance to regulations and industry safety standards.

Legal & regulatory compliance


  • Regularly monitor due dates of licenses, certifications, accreditations, statutory report submissions & ensure they are renewed on time.
  • Maintain all legal registers and lists & act on remarks given (if any) by legal authorities during their visits.
  • Spread awareness amongst site teams about all the applicable rules and regulations & updates on any new rules & regulations declared.
  • Monitor & ensure compliance to all applicable rules & regulations and escalate any deviations to the Works Head & senior management.

Zero Accidents/Incidents


  • Inspect facilities & conduct/organise safety audits to detect existing or potential incident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Implement recommendations outcomes from audits, investigations, suggestions, near misses reported and other sources like authority visits and daily walk through audits/observations by EHS team
  • Ensure investigation of all incidents and accidents from initial report to closure in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical guidance to identify and remove physical, chemical and biological hazards from facilities, operations and sites.
  • Maintain data of all safety key performance indicators (KPIs), keep them visible on sites and lead initiatives that continuously improve these metrics.
  • Ensure project safety reviews (PSSR) are documented for all capital & revenue projects performed at the site.

Emergency Preparedness


  • Prepare and update the site emergency plan
  • Conduct/organise mock drills as per statutory requirements & company policy & record the observations, trigger & ensure closure of CAPA for the same.
  • Establish and train people within the factory on emergency handling procedures.
  • Establish & ensure all safety equipment like Fire Extinguishers, gas detectors, rescue tools and other safety instruments & equipment are in working condition.

Occupation Health Centre (OHC)


  • Maintain OHC with proper medicines as per requirements or as recommended by the Doctor (FMO)
  • Ensure all OHC equipment is well maintained
  • Ensure all medical records of all persons working at site are up to date
  • Counsel existing employees to go for advanced medical care, in case of abnormalities reported in the periodical testing or examination along with FMO.

Integrated Management System (IMS)


  • Manage and conduct HIRA of all activities, together with concerned personnel within the factory.
  • Develop and amend procedures and other IMS related documents to ensure that they are updated & accurate.
  • Conduct/organise training of concerned staff within the factory
  • Coordinate for and represent the company in IMS audits by the certification agency.
