- DevOps or Infrastructure as code support and deployment experience primarily using Jenkins, Ansible and CloudFormation to make this happen along with a heavy dependency on code repositories.
- Code is primarily written in Python, Ansible, Shell and Cloudformation (YAML). These are reasonably required skills for a new team member or else they wont be able to read the Infrastructure code base. Java and Javascript/Node.js is being used by the Devs, but they should normally be able to make that work since its their only job.
- ECS/Fargate, EC2 and Lambda (serverless) are the primary services that Sensis hosts applications on, so skills with those are more highly regarded.
- Also, networking and webapp backgrounds are better because they are going to be dealing with a lot of Akamai/Cloudfront and SSL based problems
- Consulting will be essential. The candidate will need to be able to work independently in the team (as all members of the team do) and liaise with client staff (mostly Devs) and challenge requests in order to build best-of-breed supportable services and manage expectations. There will be some requests that need to be shutdown because they havent been planned properly or are simply terrible requests (ie. Bad Data Security)
- Needs to be a Linux guy. NO Windows people, there are very few services running on Windows. Maybe 3% aside from desktops and Workspaces which will not be in scope for the position beyond network support. The Sensis Cloud Ops team is also the Unix delivery team.
- Architecture experience is also desirable, as the candidate will be architecting as well as delivering and supporting. Even though its called a Cloud Ops team, there is really no Ops going on aside from FinOps. Breakfixes typically need a skilled delivery guy right now because everything is already HA or fault tolerant so there isnt really low hanging fruit as much as multiple issues that all need a comprehensive and sustainable fixes.
- There will likely be quite a bit of work refactoring old-pipelines to new pipelines since old pipelines are often running software/operating systems more than 3 years old.
