Job Description
Cost Estimators gather and analyze data to estimate the amount of money, time, materials, and labor required to complete a construction project, provide a service or manufacture a product. Their job is to provide realistic estimates to ensure a project is completed on time and within budget
Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
A good construction cost estimator must be knowledgeable, accurate, diligent, and analytical. They must be able to take on each job and make accurate estimates, as well as actively looking to improve future estimates and results. Anyone considering hiring an estimator should be well aware of these qualities
Cost Estimator Responsibilities:
- Meeting with clients to discuss the scope and scale of the project.
- Traveling to job sites to gather information on materials, labor, and other factors.
- Collaborating with engineers, contractors, and architects.

- Identifying and quantifying all cost factors involved in the project.
