Job Description
This is a leadership role that requires an individual with a strong technical background, and an ability to partner across multiple business functions to align priorities and plans with key security policies, standards, and objectives.
The Senior Manager of Security Operations will act as regional lead for cyber security in the APJ region and be responsible for managing multiple teams performing essential security activities. This leader is responsible for ensuring security measures are correctly implemented by directly managing tasks of subordinate teams, and providing clearly defined objectives and expected outcomes. Goals and objectives are set by senior security leadership and documented in annual Priorities, strategic plans, and operational runbooks (e.g. monitoring and response activities) to ensure security operations standards are not only upheld, but progress to a higher level of security maturity
Expertise in leading project teams and developing and managing project plan is crucial for success in this role. In addition to supporting the CSO's policies and strategies, the successful candidate must be able to prioritize and re-prioritize work efforts balancing operational tasks with longer-term strategic security efforts.
Lastly, this position requires engaged management of highly technical staff, closely tracking work efforts to accomplish company and personal development goals, and must have proven leadership skills. Documentation and presentation skills, analytical and critical thinking skills, initiative, and the ability to anticipate the needs of leadership and the organization are critical requirements of this important position.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities
- Assess current state of Security Operations teams and immediately identify shortfalls, followed by prioritization of work;
- Lead three distinct Cyber Security teams performing monitoring, investigations, and analysis ensuring work is completed in a timely manner with an extreme level of attention to detail, appropriate urgency, and thoroughness;
- Develop detailed step by step runbooks with clear requirements from event intake to documentation of work outputs and outcomes;
- Manage the Bangalore security operations center to ensure security threats are triaged and investigated in a timely manner, escalating to L3/4 team members as appropriate and required;
- Deliver weekly analytics reports in current reporting style;
- Drive the development and implementation of an adaptive security monitoring and response strategy;
- Manage security event detection across a diverse technology ecosystem;
- Provide oversight and guidance to local incident response teams, including incident management, runbook development, and refinement, and participation in testing activities like tabletop exercises;
- Manage and operate a continuous threat and vulnerability management program, per objectives set by senior leadership including the improvement of the mean time to resolution (MTTR) to address critical threats;
- Provide oversight for cyber security investigations and related support requests from senior security leadership and business stakeholders;
- Oversee operation and care and feeding of security technology services and products;
- Maintain strong relationships with external operations, incident response; and forensics partners;
- Drive routine internal and external engagement at multiple levels: business leaders, technologists, security executives, etc.;
- Identify career and knowledge development needs of members assigned to project teams and develops suggestions to address those needs. Acts as a mentor to team members on projects and provides on the job coaching and training;
- Schedules work, assigns tasks and responsibilities, and delegates authority for assigned projects; and
- Ability to analyze complex security issues, determine root cause,impact to the business, and identify the corrective action needed to eliminate and prevent the event going forward;
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent years of on the job experience (as noted below)
- 15 years of experience in technology and security
- 7 years of experience in a people management role
- 5 years experience as a consultant
- Experience with SOC measurement, automation and orchestration technologies, and processes
- Experience leading incident response and forensic investigations
- Experience leading monitoring and proactive threat hunting teams
- Exemplary interpersonal, and written and verbal communications skills; able to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Strong understanding of SIEM, Firewall, and IDS/ IPS technologies
- Ability to win trust and respect of management and partners from other functions and lines of business.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision making, and crisis control skills
- Ability to manage and excel in a complex and opaque environment, connecting people effectively, and influencing positive outcomes.
- Extensive experience with the creation and delivery of effective and compelling presentation materials to senior management.
