By joining EXFO as a Software Architect (Cloud & Microservices), you will work with sophisticated technologies in a dynamic and innovative environment.
  • As a key member of the development team, the Software Architect (Cloud & Microservices) is actively involved in defining, developing and deploying complex systems. The Software Architect (Cloud & Microservices) will work on the Common Core Framework, which uses a combination of open source, closed source and cloud technologies to deliver common services to be re-used across our product portfolio.

What youll do
  • Design software modules and services using a microservices/SOA approach.
  • Use web-services, cloud technologies and open source software to design leading-edge solutions.
  • Anticipate business needs and technology trends and articulate the architecture roadmap.
  • Create well-defined interfaces (APIs) for communication and integration.
  • Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies to both the management team and architecture community.
  • Work closely with other R&D Software Architects in all product areas to align product architecture roadmaps.
  • Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations.
  • Participate in a Centre of Excellence (CoE) providing expertise to other departments around the Core Framework Services and their associated technologies.
  • Operate under minimal supervision.

What were looking for
Technical skills

  • In-depth knowledge of server-side development, including performance and scalability in any of the following: Java/Scala/Python/PHP.
  • Detailed knowledge of REST/SOAP architectures, creating public and private APIs, Swagger, OpenAPI.
  • Demonstrable experience of web-services, cloud-based architectures and using an SOA/microservices approach.
  • Strong experience of Amazon AWS, other Cloud (Microsoft, Google) considered an asset.
  • Experience in employing open source for core services.
  • Strong experience of Kafka and/or similar technologies.
  • NoSQL experience such as MongoDB/Couchbase and solid RDBMS knowledge such as MySQL/Postgres.
  • Ability to work with other Software Architects to best design, normalize and harmonize software solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of the software development cycle and test driven development.
  • Experience working in an Agile team with Agile methodologies (SCRUM).
  • Knowledge and experience of Big Data considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of telecommunication technologies, test equipment and service assurance considered an asset.

Must have
Pertinent experience: Minimum of 15 years experience in Software Development. 7 years experience as a Software Architect.
Language requirements: Fluent in English.
Education: Minimum Engineering degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Post-graduation in Engineering is preferred.
