Job Purpose:
As part of a Hardware in The Loop (HiL) test team, you with provide technical leadership for developing automated test solutions for software, firmware and hardware. You will head the team responsible for the testing, planning, execution, and delivery of automated tests at board and product level. You will be responsible for all aspects of the test and automation test life cycle, including:
- Responsibility for delivery through your test team Implementation of test strategy for HiL test rigs across the business.
- Lead test of industrial control products including embedded software, new features, product enhancements
- Lead End to End structured test process from requirements analysis and test case authoring to executing automated tests and storing test reports and presenting test coverage metrics.
- Managing HiL test requests, test rig time booking, and maximizing the use of Rotorks HiL test rigs
- Influencing, promoting and adhering to test design principles using best practice processes
- collaborating with global test automation team
- To work within and agile framework Kanban & scrum
- delivering high quality solutions using continuous improvement tools and techniques
An inspirational test team leader, you will need to be technically orientated, process minded, disciplined and proactive to ensure the delivery of all team activities in line with agreed deadlines.
Main Responsibilities:
- Technical leadership for leading HiL test team working in HiL test rigs environment ensuring best practice is set and adhered to.
- Development and ownership of the HiL rigs for validation of features.
- Fulfil requirements of the full test life cycle from research and proof of concept through to automation test.
- Develop and prepare test plans to ensure auto test execution, test results and dashboards are delivered on time, maintained, and up to date.
- Technical authority in developing test frameworks such as Simulink test or python/C# or Automationdesk or similar tools and providing test script templates for the test team to enable writing test scripts executable in board level test (HiL Level-3) and integration & system level test(Level-4).
- Grow the team capability for automating tests from requirements analysis to delivering test results and data storage.
- Provide cost effective solutions to grow the HiL Lab capability across the business.
- Present analysis results and project solutions to key stakeholders such as senior leaders and customers as necessary.
- Lead the Development of functional and non-functional test scripts on unit, integration and system level to ensure compliance to requirements.
- As well as leading the test team youll engage with modelling engineers to determine priorities and assign tasks to deliver a working test rig.
- Test Design and reviews to meet internationally recognised standards.
Qualifications and Technical Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in electrical or electronics, computer science, control systems or software engineering or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable implementation of test strategy.
- Experience in building and mentoring test teams.
- Expert in software testing, test plans, and test suites in HiL environment such as dSPACE, National Instruments, Simulink Test & Speedgoat, or similar HiL tools.
- Proven experience of using Matlab and Simulink preferably in V-model model-based systems engineering.
- Understanding of Requirements based model and MBSE HiL architecture.
- Expert in using test management tools and techniques according to ISO 829 or 29119-4 standard (ISTQB certified preferred).
- Use of the Microsoft toolset - for technical documentation.
- Experience of task management, source control, defect management, verification and validation tools.
- Understanding of a variety of project management methodologies (e.g. agile).
- Willingness to travel.
Essential Competencies:
- Experience in leading test teams to deliver test automation on various software related projects.
- Expert level in designing, coding and using Test frameworks and test script templates.
- Experience in using Test management tools and requirement management tools (e.g. Jama or similar).
- Excellent computer skills to handle various infrastructure and tool development tasks, such as version control (e.g. git), tooling interfaces (e.g. CAN, Ethernet), basic client-server methods.
- Strong decision-making ability able to make decisions quickly in a crisis.
- Experience in Defect management, re-test, and regression testing with test coverage metrics.
- Good knowledge of Hardware in the Loop testing (V-model).
Desirable Competencies:
- Familiarity with various Test frameworks in python/C#, or dSpace tool chain (ControlDesk, AutomationDesk), or Simulink Test, NI Veristand, or similar.
- Understanding of Modelling tools e.g. Matlab/Simulink and realtime HiL rigs such as dSPACE, or speedgoat or National Instruments.
- App testing tools like Appium or selenium or similar.
- Good Knowledge of testing tooling interfaces such as Wifi and 2G/4G, NB-IOT/LTE-M1.
- Good knowledge of testing connected devices.
