Job Description
- Accountable for the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of testing within their business unit with respect to their specialism.
- Accountable for the quality of deliverables signed out of test with respect to their specialism and responsible for the inputs to all the test strategy and test schedules in their area of expertise. Applying tailored/established test best practice depending on the needs of a project
- Has influence in the application of the best practice testing across multiple programmes of work and will be recognised across business units as a specialist, working with SME across the unit.
- May contribute to the creation of a plan to review/monitor/control the activities of third party test resource.
- Accountable for providing recommendations and advice to management decisions on matters relating to test projects AND the test organisation in which they work, including new test tools, customer disclosure information, training options for their teams
- Accountable for being a local coach/mentor, who is sought after across the unit.
- Improved Test & QA demand management
- Own the plan and execution of all activities relating to Network Validation testing that encompasses the testing of the customer workflow from the OSS systems such as rPACS, SRIMS , SMARTS, NGEA, NSO, LIVESP etc., all the way to its impact on the network devices in the core MPLS network.
- This role will involve interfacing with multiple lines of businesses such as BT Global Services, BT Open Reach and BT Whole Sale in order to provide network validation testing services for the respective customers.
- Refresh the plan every release/project and review with the relevant LOB test leads.
- Ensure detailed walkthroughs are carried out by the owning/consuming test team.
- Hold regular governance calls during interlock to ensure progress and issue control
- Ensure reporting is correct
- Identify improvements in process and implement
- Customer experience improvement
- Own the central repository of all data built to cover Network Validation.
- Involvement in Agile and dev ops Programmes
- Own the NIT interlock plan and improvements incl MEWs and PEWs
- Drive the use of automation in N/W validation testing
- Support QA Tech Store initiatives.
- Identify test environment improvement initiatives and implement them

Mandatory skills :
- Specialisms include but are not restricted to Network validation testing and interlock experience, non-functional testing (e.g. Scalability, Penetration, Volume and Performance, Security, Penetration, Load, Stress, etc.), functional testing, defect management, module testing, supplier acceptance testing, customer acceptance testing, usability testing, Operational readiness testing, user acceptance testing, disaster recovery and compliance. Other specialisms may come about based upon a particularly knowledge domain (e.g. Defence systems, cloud technologies, data-warehousing). Specialists also include Test Architects, Test Assurance analysts, and Test maturity assessors.
