Mr.Ramanan, the founder and CEO of LCS has a background of being a part of the Senior Management in MNCs of IT / BPO segments, playing the roles of Head of HR and also Director Offshore Advisory Services. He also has the unique achievement of having contributed as the key resource in building up the captive center in Navi Mumbai for the worlds No.1 Company in HR BPO space. He was also the Client Director Advisory services for their operations in India for the initial 1.1/2 years period. Had also played a significant HR and advisory role to the CXOs of Fortune 500 Companies with specific relevance to HR aspects and Global Offshore Advisory.

Having played the roles at grass root level of operations in HR as well as at a very high level of Global Offshore Advisory, it became very evident that India clearly has two key challenges in the near future that has to be effectively addressed in order to retain leadership in the IT and BPO industry segments in the global scenario. The two challenges are clearly:

People related issues (mainly attracting and retaining talent) and
Security aspects, mainly from ITES perspective (specifically Data security).

The main reasons for the growing attrition in ITES segment that needs immediate attention are found to be:

The force fit of candidates to Corporate for purely commercial reasons;
Meteoric growth in the industry in a short span has caused those with inadequate People
Management skills to occupy the key middle management positions;
HR team is invariably focusing on the recruitment front, as the demand for more people is ever increasing coupled with pressures of lowering the cost per hire. Result is the lack of sufficient time and focus to other performance and retention efforts of employees.

Powered by the above analysis, Ladder Consultancy Services was thus formed in the latter half of 2004 with the following clear focus and approach:

Be an enabler for the marriage of right people to right jobs concentrate on the peoples mindset and perception of the jobs that they are taking up rather than force fit people to Corporates.

be a force multiplier for the HR function of Corporates by supplementing career mentoring role for the candidates who get placed through LCS; the main focus of the career mentoring of the candidates would be to ensure their longevity in the Organization. In this process, LCS would also be able to give feedback to the HR of Corporates on their employee perceptions and grey areas requiring attention. LCS would continuously strive to be true partners in Business.
