Description:
- General responsibilities and expectations include but not limited to: This is NOT an operational role.
- This is an engineering role and performance expectations will reflect as such. Prescriptive instructions for task fulfillment will not be provided.
- Minimum 7 years of experience is expected in candidate's area of expertise.
- Ability to communicate written and verbal clearly and concisely, to peers, management and business stakeholders.
Specific responsibilities and expectations include but not limited to:
- Must have a minimum of 7 years of technical experience in database engineering.
- Possesses a process mindset.
- Define, design, build, standardize and improve database technology solutions.
- Define advanced monitoring strategies and automated systematic remediations to improve system availability and performance.
- Define and improve backup strategies for data recovery in the event of system outages.
- Create and maintain documentation including operations manuals, procedure, problem resolution and root cause analysis documents.
- Collaborates with architecture teams to execute POC initiatives to vet new technologies and solutions.
- Participate in proof of concept initiatives to vet new technologies and solutions.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Define, design, build and standardize and improve database backup solutions, using database native or platform level tools or technologies.
- Knowledge and experience with Agile project delivery concepts like Scrum or Kanban.
- Experienced in working in a team environment using project management tools like JIRA.
- ITIL knowledge & experience an ITIL based ticketing system such as ServiceNow.
- Advanced knowledge of popular commercial and/or open source relational and NoSQL Database technologies.
- Knowledge and experience with common application and middle-tier interfaces to database technology (ODBC, JDBC, SOAP, WebLogic, JBoss etc.).
- Advanced knowledge of SQL Tuning.
- Script development as necessary to support the databases and external interfaces.
- Knowledge of database running in a Unix/Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Experience working with database utilities such as: Export/Import, SQLLoader, SPSS, DdBoost, and other database monitoring and maintenance tools.
- Experience in the following database platforms: Oracle Finance, PeopleSoft and/or other comparable application database platforms.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience performing basic administration, maintenance and troubleshooting databases.
- Advanced knowledge of application and database tuning, performance monitoring, capacity management and maintenance.
- Experience with Postgres, Enterprise DB Advanced Server, MariaDB, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, AWS Redshift databases is a plus.
