Job Description
To design the overall testing & implementation of automated testing of all applications, in order to ensure development of a robust technology solution; Review functional requirements; design test plans, review test scenarios, automate test cases and ensure that testability issues are addressed in the design lifecycle.
The role holder would also be responsible for ensuring development of exhaustive functional test scenarios to evaluate overall quality of deliverables across all parameters including performance, security, usability etc
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Design and Implementation
- Provide inputs to the overall strategy pertinent to testing; Ensure implementation of the strategy
- Develop and implements best practices for test methodologies as per industry standard
- Develop new and refine existing QA processes, tools and testing infrastructure to enhance quality and productivity.
Design of Test Architecture
- Maintain a big picture view of the application being developed, its dependencies, organizational goals, technology arena, etc. and articulate overall Automation testing strategy and ensure communication of the same to the System Integrators (SIs); Ensure incorporation of Testability requirements into the Architectural design
- Ensure development of the Web and API Test Plan & test cases to assess efficacy of system design and its ability to meet specified organizational requirements; Own automation test artifacts such as test specifications, codes; Ensure exhaustiveness of test scenarios developed in order to evaluate overall quality of deliverables on parameters including performance, security, usability, etc.
- Organize and facilitate reviews, inspections, and walkthroughs of test plans and other Product Lifecycle Framework (PLF) related documentation
- Utilize automation testing knowledge and experience to assess and advise on the practicality of testing process alternatives; Identify improvements to the process and assist in their implementation
- Propagate use of optimization techniques to minimize the number of test cases and time effort while maximizing test coverage
Testing Aspects
- Drive UAT and function execution of the software features
- Ensure Team mentoring and handling as per business need
- Ensure expertise in API integration testing
- Review automation testing of the solutions developed to ensure solution capability & robustness
- Ensure the overall quality of deliverables across all parameters, both functional and non-functional including performance, security, usability, etc.
- Ensure creation of reports on system performance & test evaluation for future reference; Check/ Review Test Cases documents
- Analyse test results and record deviation from expected output (if any); Report test results and log defects and issues into the bug database
- Investigate potential defects identified during the Test execution phase. Suggest modifications in system design/ specifications after making necessary evaluations
- Ensure timely delivery of different testing milestones
- Support in estimation and planning for development of the test automation framework
- Records and maintains source control of automation scripts.
Others
- Ensure timely preparation of MIS and Status Updates for circulation to the Top Management and other authorities as may be required
- Provide technical support to the Stakeholders/Vendor/ Consultant Team etc. as & when required
Key Attributes & Skills:
- B.Tech/ BE / MCA / M.Sc (Computer) or equivalent Degree with 9 - 11 years of experience
- Hands on minimum 6-8 years of experience as an functional testing
- Experience in creating or developing testing strategies for custom application( web and API) development as well as packaged application implementation
- Experience in IT Application testing, working within the IT development lifecycle and automated testing
- Experience in creation of test plans and specifications and production of test scenarios and scripts
- Should have experience in different testing techniques like White box Testing, Black box testing, Non-functional testing, Regression testing etc.,
- Should have experience in coding in Java/Core Java, SQL and scripting in any one of the industry standard open source testing tools like selenium for automation testing.
