Senior Software Engineer - Bengaluru/Bangalore @ Microsoft

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of junior and mid-level engineers to automate build out of services
• Lead by example in writing exemplary code working with large scale distributed systems with quality, simplicity, and maintainability as core tenets
• Lead by example producing simple, extensible, and maintainable code with very few defects
• Lead design and code reviews across the feature area, understand the root causes of issues, and find ways to resolve them
• Lead scrum and effectively communicate status, issues, and risks
• Communicate effectively and partner well with other disciplines of the project team to deliver high quality solutions from ideas to production code
• Provide feedback and drive improvements with current tools and processes, driving initiatives to the appropriate group, for proactive design changes and implementation or business risk assessment for incident causal factors
• Partner with local and remote teams and drive synergy
• Skilled in scripting and leveraging tools like PowerShell to automate parts of system build out

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of C-family (C, C++, C#) or Java software engineering professional experience
• 2+ years of professional experience in production scale cloud application services and API design and development
• Possess automation-related experience valued. Scripting languages such as bash, python, and PowerShell, or compiled languages such as C, C#, Go etc
• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, related math/engineering field, or 8+ years of equivalent industry software engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading a team of junior-mid level engineers
• Experience managing people with responsibilities including performance assessments, career growth, mentorship etc
• Strong collaboration skills: working across teams and organizations is necessary to be successful
• Demonstrated quantitative skills to resolve ambiguous problems and drive to root cause
• Ability to troubleshoot complex problems
• Ability to think out of the box and identify areas to improve system components
• Proficient in cloud-based technologies, primarily Azure
