Job Description

 

  • Strategic leadership: Develop a cohesive charter integrating the multiple pieces of Windows experience technologies that you are accountable for. Demonstrate thought leadership and curiosity to ensure the technologies you own are contributing to achieving the key Windows Experience business and health goals (as measured by key metrics).
  • Influence and align the product vision by collaborating with customers, partners, product management and engineering teams
  • Planning and Execution: Ability to think holistically and strategically. Leverage understanding of engineering rhythm so that the team operates at a high level, knowledge is shared appropriately, and decision making happens at the right levels on the team. Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage complex technical products.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: The work you own is part of a larger collection of value requiring deep partnering and collaboration with the other Group Engineering Managers to ensure strategic objectives are met. You have a proven ability to work closely with others to achieve a common end, and to influence those across the management spectrum.
  • Communication: Able to conduct insightful, multi-faceted conversations with senior business and technical decision makers inside and outside Microsoft. Conceptualize complex ideas quickly and convey those thoughts to others in a clear, and effective manner.
  • Cultural Leadership: Proven ability to lead cultural initiatives, having positive impact on team morale and fostering an environment of inclusion. Create a team culture of engineering excellence, customer passion, collaboration, diversity and inclusion. And of course, having fun too!

Qualifications

  • A BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • 1 5+ years of total experience engineering, designing, building and shipping software at scale
  • 5 + years of team leadership and people management including managing managers
  • Track record of building and leading high functioning teams, including recruiting and retaining diverse talent base
  • Proven competency in strategic leadership, organizational agility, cross-team collaboration, drive for results, and written and verbal communications
  • Experience building software products with diverse engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated expertise coding in C, C++, Java, or C#
  • Strong project management and people management skills
  • Working in agile teams with strong customer focus
  • Experience working on cross platform applications or services used at scale
  • Good design, coding, debugging, teamwork, partnership, and communication skills
  • Experience with cross group design and coordination is an advantage.
  • You must be self-driven, curious to learn, proactive, and result-oriented .
