Purpose of the Job -
- To organize and manage the Network studies, design and verification validation activities for Metro Rail projects executed by Alstom
- Manage internal and external stakeholders on a project in the area of network design and network security.
- Interface with global Alstom technical team. - Project Engineering Manager (functional) and to Department Head (hierarchical) - In contact with the System and Products team. - Integrated within Project management Team The Project Network Design Architect is the point of contact for NT design related subjects on complex projects. He is in charge of the following activities:
- Define network architecture and design principles during project execution which includes,
- Proposal of technical solution in-line with network design directives and project contractual requirements
- Design, implement and maintain network and network security architecture on projects. Collaborate across traditional engineering functions.
- Elaborate Signalling and Telecom System Network Design, for projects, with expected Quality, Cost and Delivery deadlines (QCD) under the functional authority of Project Engineering Manager
- Propose network architecture for bids in railway domain with expected Quality, Cost and Delivery deadlines (QCD) under the functional authority of Bid Manager.
- Technically support third party interfaces, cybersecurity interfaces, product selection and proof-of-concept studies.
- Technical interface with RD and global operations teams in NT domain.
- Define / establish configuration activities for various network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, SDH nodes, wireless devices, etc.)
- Capability to technically support on-site operation team, project partners and customer connection
- Execute preliminary design studies for Metro project wired network, in line with contractual requirements, and recommend suitable network architecture and devices.
- Identify specific network functionalities and design gaps in collaboration with design authority /experts. Identify product requirements in line with project needs.
- Responsible for Radio (Wi-Fi, LTE, etc.) and Backbone (Core/Edge) Network Architecture Design activities (Gigabit Ethernet, SDH, IP-MPLS, etc.)
- Adapt and apply Metro Rail Network Telecom Engineering rules to projects from a network design perspective (technology selection, availability, hot/cold redundancy, reliability, backup, etc.)
- Produce all relevant design documents as per project documentation plan in line with project milestones and close collaboration with industrialization, Cybersecurity and power experts.
- Establish BoQ (Bill of Quantity) of network devices and support cubicle industrialization
- Lead Network Security design activities
- Lead Network Configuration activities (routers, switches, VLAN s, QoS, firewalls, wireless AP s and modems, NMS, etc.) (data preparation)
- Ensure Technical Rooms (Switching Equipment Room) surveys.
- Establish Verification and Validation strategy
- Participate to Installation studies.
- Develop Installation Principles, Maintenance Guidelines, Training Manuals.
- Open and follow/work at technical change requests with product/systems teams
- Participate upon request, to Installation TC support.
- Network Optimization and Performance Tuning.
- Provide feedback to Product and to Engineering teams
- Technical support during warranty period
Bids in Rail Domain - Propose network architectures for systems such as Signalling, CCTV, Internet on-board, LTE, etc. using technologies such as Wi-Fi, LTE, Gigabit Ethernet, IP-MPLS, etc. for bids in railway networking domain.
- Provide Quality, Cost and Delivery deadlines (QCD) under the functional authority of Bid Manager
- Discuss with product teams for product selection / proof-of-concept studies.
- Participate to technical interface / meetings with RD and global operations teams to track global NT roadmap, new products and solutions, current issues and design/product gaps in networking domain.
- To improve engineering productivity of the DCS sub-system (Process and Tools)

EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES REQUIRED COMPETENCES Educational Requirements
- University/ Engineer in degree level (mandatory)
- Networking certification such as: CCNP, CCIE (RS, Wireless)
- Experience related to Network Design in general, Experience in network security.
Knowledge of Alstom Products Solution Portfolio. Experience in operational environment Competencies Skills
10+ years of Network Design and Implementation experience (HLD LLD), Product selection, BOM preparation, Network Testing Commissioning.
Knowledge of Data Communication Technicques (L2 and L3 routing and switching, Radio Communication with specific focus on Wi-Fi, LTE deployments)
Knowledge of network monitoring principles (NSM, MIB, IP/Protocol analyser, KPI usage, QOS monitoring)
Knowledge on security concepts like ACL, QoS, 802.1x, Firewalls, etc.
Knowledge of packet capturing and protocol analysis (TCP, UDP, ICMP, packet dissection, etc.)
Practical experience on handling Indoor/Outdoor Fibres, Cubicle design.
Good Knowledge of Networking / Wireless Networking.
Telecom experience and knowledge on architecture principles for: Tetra, 2G/3G packet core networks, LTE, Wi-Max
