Job Purpose :

We are looking for a Network Engineer to join our Network Security Group in Ahmedabad, India. Sophos NSG develops industry leading Firewall, SG UTM, Secure Wi-Fi, and Secure Web Gateway products.
The engineer will assist in building, supporting and deploying the hardware and software for development and quality assurance teams across global Sophos labs/data-centers. This individual will apply his/her skills in systems administration and network administration to support the usage needs of the engineering teams and the broader organizations. Along with technical skills, the position requires someone who can maintain careful documentation and keep the extensive lab inventory current in a DevOps fashion based on Infrastructure as Code principles.
Roles & Responsibilities :
- [30% time] Technical liaison to DevOps/Lab Manager as subject matter expert in the following areas:
- Technical interface to all internal organizations (e.g., Security, IT, etc.) and external (e.g., ISP, Equipment Vendors technical selection, staying abreast of key technical partner roadmaps, etc.) entities
- Maintain IT components as needed. Configure and maintain networking and site infrastructure (switches, routers, security components, VPNs etc.) as required
- Implement improvements to existing Labs Infrastructure (e.g., maturity of cell architecture)
- Responsible for capturing work activity in JIRA and plan effort accordingly using scrum principles

- Hands-on, in office/lab, NSG-ELS team support of the following
- Root Cause Analysis of recurring lab infrastructure challenges
- Diagnose and fix hardware or software problems as necessary in supported systems.
- Addressing high priority interrupt issues as identified by Management (e.g., augmenting existing staff in deployment of new HW platforms, etc.)
- Install server and other hardware in the labs
- Install necessary software (typically Linux distributions) in a reproducible manner.
- Ensure maximum lab uptime meeting internal organization SLAs.
- Support the engineering teams in performing product development and testing and day-to-day operations and maintenance.
Experience & Skills :
- 5+ years of system administration and support experience.
- Hands-on experience installing and configuring a wide variety of servers, operating systems, security appliances, and applications.
- Thorough understanding of networking concepts and ability to configure them, such as switches, VLANs, IP routing, and firewall rules.
- Comfortable in navigating a Linux command line and OS through command line.
- Able to modify Linux operating systems and debugging system issues.
- Working Experience on storage devices with ISCSI and FC is required.
- Experience with virtualized environments such as VMware vSphere, vCenter, Microsoft HyperV, Citrix Xen, Proxmox (KVM).
- Hands on experience with Windows Server operation system with Active directory.
- Experience working in Software/Hardware QA or a similar testing environment highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Excellent organization and time management abilities.
- Onsite availability is a must.
