VMware /Windows Admin Skills.
- Should have the capability and confidence to single handedly install, operate, debug and manage a VMware based VM Farm using components like, ESX, vCenter, vCloud Suite of products, VMware PowerCLI based automation and so on.
- Should have documentation skill to create, update and manage technical documentation on the VM Farm use cases and projects, including inventory management.
- Should have at least 6-8 years experience on VMware products and should be expert in vSphere 5.x and 6.x suite of products.
- WSUS, DHCP & DNS, Windows OS like 2K12, 2K16 & 2K19 support and troubleshooting, performance tuning.
- To design, install, and administer virtualization (VMware 6.0, 6.5 and above and Hyper-V) products.
- Regular support of VMware and windows environment by resolving the escalated tickets.
Identify and implement the rectified operational issues. - Should have good experience in vRealize automation and VROPS tools for monitoring VMWARE infra, NSX, vCloud.
- Experience migrating large infrastructures from physical to virtual environments
- Experience with HA and DR strategies across multiple data centers
- Must have working knowledge on HP (Gen 8,9,10) & DELL (M-Series) Blade servers and enclousers, it would be greate if he has implementation knowledge.
- Good to have knowledge on NAS & SAN
- Experienced with shared storage solutions.
- Identify and implement preventative maintenance and performance optimization solutions to meet operational objectives.
- Should have the basic knowledge on Networking and storage technologies in order to understand the use case and to configure VMware products with networks and storage. This also includes knowledge on VMware products like vRA, vDI, vSAN, vDS, NSX and so on.
- Should have the skill to do basic debug analysis during VMWare product crashes and to provide the RCA for the same.
- Should have the basic knowledge for integrating VMware products with other Third party products. (Active Directory integration, Monitoring tools like Nagios, HP and Dell servers and Workstations.)
- Should have the skills to do life cycle operations on VMware products like upgrades, patching (install patches given by Hardware OEM) and migrations (moving inventory and VMs across VM Farms ).
- Should have the skills to remotely operate VMware suite of products (VIClient, vCenter Portal, Power CLI and so on ) and also should have basic skill to remotely operation other connected services and products like ( RDP, SSH, ILO/iDRAC, VNC).
- Should have the Enthusiasm to learn related technologies with and outside VMware on virtualization and cloud computing.
- Should have an open mind to engage tasks and debug issues on first attempt and to explore technology and documents and internet for answers to fix issues.
- Basic knowledge on Network and storage would be an added advantage
- Should have the communication skills to engage in technical discussion with the team on projects or products related to VMware technology.
- Should have the basic skills to understand the use cases from customers (internal product teams ) and to discuss the same with architects within the team for implementation of the same
Linux Admin Skills.
- Should have the expertise and confidence to single handedly install, operate debug and manage Linux and Solaris based operation systems like :
- RHEL 3.x to latest version.
- SLES and OpenSuse 10 to the latest version.
- Ubuntu Linux 12.x to the latest version.
- CentOS 6.x and 7.x
- Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.x
- Sun Solaris 10 and 11.x ( SunOS version 5.x )
- HP AIX ( Basic knowledge ).
- Should have the skill to remotely connect and manage these systems.
- Should have the skills to configure the basic services on these servers like
- LDAPv3 ( both openldap and SSSD )
- NIS
- NFS with AutoFS
- Quota Management
- File System ( Ext3 and 4, XFS, ZFS and default ones, both encrypted and plain ).
- Auto Installation service like Kickstart Methods, DHCP/BootP, NFS based Installation, PXE Based installation and so on
- Basic products like JAVA JRE/JDK installation, RUBY, PHP and other package installations.
- Network and System security services like IPtables, SELinux and Apparmor and so on.
- Routing and NAT configurations using kernel and IPtables
- Driver installation for specific OEM hardware like NVIDIA from TarBall.
- Basic configurations like proxy servers, DNS, IP address ( both IPv4 and IPv6), hostnames and so on
- Crontab based scheduling.
- Basic setup for MySQL and PGSQL databases ( no need of higher DB admin skills on using SQL).
- Basic setup of Apache and Tomcat Web service. ( No need advanced configuration skills on applications).
- Should have good knowledge on shell scripting in BASH and Expect. (Perl and Ruby scripting will be an added skill)
- Should have basic to good knowledge in handling Python scripts ( use of Python on automation and orchestration. Debug Python issues, handling Python modules ).
- Should have the basic debug skills to understand the root cause of system crashes and sluggish performance and rectify the system.
- Should have the basic documentation skills to create and manage technical documents for the team.
- Should have the enthusiasm to take up new tasks and learn new and related technologies in the Linux and Solaris platforms as needed by the customer ( internal product teams ) and to prove them through PoC setups and simulations.
- Should have the enthusiasm to adapt to and explore technical issues and find answers to them from internet, technical documentation, discussions with SMEs and so on, on your own.

Minimum qualifications
Bachelors Degree required. Preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
