About the role

Location Mumbai / Gurgaon

The role involves providing comprehensive research support to Portfolio manager and senior executives, including company and industry analysis, financial modelling, valuations, sector/country updates, and other custom research work. Person should have a good understanding of equities and the broader financial/Industry research process.

Additionally, the candidate must be ready to travel regularly to US/Singapore during the year.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing all-round research support to portfolio manager and other senior executives
  • Prepare detailed financial models with historical adjustments and forecast (including valuations)
  • Collecting financial data using on-line and other data sources such as CapitalIQ and Bloomberg
  • Preparing databases using different sources
  • Developing company's operating metrics in conjunction with their relevance in different sectors/ companies.
  • Extensive company valuation involving various approaches such as DCF, DDM, Trading and transaction multiples, EVA etc.
  • Provide quality data and analysis to make the research process more efficient and robust
  • Keep abreast of important trends and developments in the relevant sectors/geographies
  • Provide need-based analysis on unassigned stocks
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the team
  • Handling ad-hoc research requests as per requirements
  • Doing quality analysis and laying out investment arguments and thesis, expressing views clearly on various investment ideas.
  • Doing quarterly analysis, summarizing investment conference calls.
  • Taking initiative and showing good intent in training new and junior members in the team

Primary skills

  • Good understanding of capital markets with excellent financial skills.
  • A solid understanding of financial statements, ratios and valuation concepts. Prior experience with US equities strongly preferred.
  • Analytical / Problem solving skills, with a logical thought process - to sort, analyses and creatively interpret large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data and to enable him / her to structure and guide research / consulting assignments and manage the project internally.
  • In-depth knowledge of one or more sectors key drivers, dynamics, trends and indicators would be an advantage.
  • Database skills CapitalIQ, Bloomberg and other financial databases.
  • Good MS Office Skills.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to lay out investment arguments and thesis lucidly,.
  • Basic knowledge of macroeconomics aggregates, regression analysis

Desired experience

  • MBA from prominent institute/ CA / CFA.
  • Total experience to be in the range of 2-6 years
