Job Description

Under the leadership of the Director-CSR Lead HCL Foundation, the assigned personnel will be responsible for planning, strategizing and monitoring of the various Environment related projects of HCL Foundation under HCL Foundations urban flagship Program HCL Uday across locations. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and implementation of such projects and providing technical inputs in developing, reviewing and adding value to the strategies. The incumbent will report to the Manager- South.

The position will be responsible for:

1.) Project and Partner Management - Organizes activities and other public events. Makes presentations, initiates communications with strategically targeted groups.

2.) Networking with the concerned Local and Government authorities and ensuring that the projects are in sync with the larger policy framework so as to leverage their support.

3.) Monitoring and supporting NGO partners in effective implementation of the project(s) deliverables in line with the larger strategy and framework of HCL Foundation. This will involve frequent field inspections and site visits.

4.) Compile and submit regular project update and activity reports.

5.) Effective engagement of HCL employees across various environment projects of HCL Foundation through creative and engaging strategies.

6.) Organizes activities and other public events. Makes presentations, initiates communications with strategically targeted groups.

7.) Responds to public inquiries about project issues and other matters. Prepares materials and publications. Support organizes conferences/ symposiums/ stakeholders meetings.

8.) Should be able to manage various environmental projects.

9.) Maintenance and monitoring of project activities and partners.

10.) Should be good to assess and manage risks, measure and report on progress, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, provide escalation management, Time management.

11.) Provide ownership and accountability to everything he/she, and see it through beyond completion measure the results of launched initiatives and drive improvements through scalable, efficient new processes to optimize our resources at all times.

12.) Performs other relevant duties as assigned by the Director. Results-oriented with solid experience in creative project planning, managing budgets, developing and managing resources, working closely with both internal team and third party agencies.

13.) Identification of potential environmental interventions as per the relevant needs of the sustainable development goals.

14.) Technical expertise - Should have experience in field level supervision and execution of Coastal management and related conservation projects.

15.) Experience in working with govt. stakeholders involved in coastal biodiversity and habitat management.

16.) Experience in developing, managing and monitoring various environmental project for urban and peri-urban areas related to protection, restoration and enhancement of diminishing green cover, biodiversity & waterbodies and other environmental aspects

17.) Develop and support scalable, replicable and sustainable pilots for upgradation of urban environment.

18.) Develop technical innovations for sustainable natural resource management in an urban context.

19.) M&E Framework - Manage and plan effective use of resources in order to comply the M&E requirements.

20.) Keeps abreast of issues related to corporate social responsibilities and business behavior in relation to the environment. Conducts research and investigation. Analyzes new developments in support of objectives and goals.

21.) Researches and analyzes a wide range of specialized material on environmental issues and strategies.

22.) Communication & reporting - Assisting development of various awareness and communication campaigns for urban/peri-urban areas related to environment.

23.) Prepare activities & events calendar for environment activities under HCL Uday program

24.) Provide necessary support to the internal & external communications teams

25.) Develop and maintain contacts with emerging strategic players for impact scaling up in local geographies.

26.) Capacity Building - Empower NGOs and shareholders to bring in environmental standards to improve the performance, practices and policies.

27.) Instill confidence in partners, motivate their creativity, and encourage fresh thinking and new approaches.

28.) Handle and coordinate Projects and Implementing Agencies virtually during COVID19 lockdown and flexible to visit sites and from remote locations in completing the deliverables.

Attributes and experience:

1. 4-6 years of experience in coastal management and related field and willingness to work in the field of Environment. Candidate having prior experience is desirable.

2. Management & organizational skills: well organized and able to coordinate a wide range of concurrent activities, prioritizing workload effectively to meet deadlines. Self-motivation to act independently and also to work collaboratively in a team.

3. Communication skills: ability to network well and collaborate/ liaise with other stakeholders including govt. and other stakeholders. Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing circumstances.

4. Computer Literacy: High proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Familiarity in any Statistical Package is desirable.

5. Ability to comprehend large data-sets in relational databases.

6. Fluency in English and Tamil is a must.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Degree in Environment Science/ Biodiversity/ Wildlife Science or related field. Qualifications related to Coastal Management is highly desirable.

2. Excellent management and organizational skills.

3. Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and team player.

4. Ability to deal with unstructured and changing environments.

5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Remuneration:

Salary commensurate with experience.
