Executive meeting managers may be employed by convention or conference centers, or as full-time employees of corporations. Their responsibilities can include selecting locations and lodging, arranging for meals and speakers or overseeing entertainment and transportation details. Depending on the level of responsibility, executive meeting managers may present a plan for approval or book the arrangements themselves. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are key for pursuing a career in this field. Executive meeting managers must also be able to work well under the stress of tight deadlines while juggling many details at once. Basic budget and math skills are important; speaking more than one language is a plus.
